Preparing for the Sturgis Rally
The Sturgis Motorcycle Rally is a 10-day motorcycle rally held once a year in the Black Hills region of South Dakota. It was first held in 1938. In the time since then, it has grown into one of the largest motorcycle events in the country. The Rally features coordinated motorcycle rides, competitions, and live music performances among other things. If you’re interested in attending the Sturgis Motorcycle Rally and want to get a head start on preparing, this guide from Bert’s Barracuda Harley-Davidson® can help.
Find a Place to Stay
A typical Sturgis Motorcycle Rally will attract about 500,00 visitors. It’s no surprise that accommodations tend to fill up quickly when the time comes for the rally. While not all of the attendees will stay all ten days of the rally, it’s still a good idea to reserve your place early. Whether you choose to stay at a hotel, rental home, or campground, don’t be afraid to do a little research to find the right place for you.
Attend a Few Concerts
One of the Sturgis Rally’s biggest draws is the multiple concerts that play at nearby venues. Some of the major names in the music industry will be there, so don’t be surprised if you have trouble getting into certain concerts. There are also several smaller stages in the area holding their own concerts, so don’t be afraid to branch out.
Check Out the Ride Maps
The Black Hills region boasts some of the most breathtaking natural scenery in the country. Between attending concerts and socializing with other bikers, take some time to visit landmarks like Mt. Rushmore, Devil’s Tower, and Bear Butte. You’ll be glad that you did!
